Jacques Adnet
French, 1900–1984
Jacques Aden was an iconic French Modernist furniture and interior designer, and architect, known for his creations made in glass, leather and rare woods. H studied at the Municipal School of Design and the École des Arts Décoratifs and went on to found his own studio J.J. Adnet with his twin brother Jean. He was most known for his modernist, avant-garde point of view that achieved a balance of form and function of decorative elements. Through the 1920s and 1930s, Jacques collaborated with some of the mid century’s most notable designers such as Serge Mouille, Charlotte Perriand, Georges Jouve, and the renowned French atelier Hermés where he designed his most well known leather-covered furniture. 1959 he became the director of l'Ecole Superieure Nationale des Arts Decoratifs in Paris until 1970.
